Emergency Center Advanced Practice Providers Spotlight

Our emergency center (EC) Advanced Practice Providers (APP) are specialized to quickly assess and respond to each patient’s physical condition as well as the environmental or emotional factors that may be contributing. They work in a fast-paced environment and are always ready to give the best care to meet the patient’s needs. We want to thank our EC Advanced Practice Providers for always being ready to respond to our most urgent cases.

UMC Receives the American Cancer Society Transportation Grant

An estimated 133,730 Texas residents will learn they have cancer this year and getting to their scheduled treatment may be one of their greatest roadblocks.

It’s a Mask-uerade

UMC knows teachers go above and beyond every day to enrich the lives of children in our community—even more so this last year with having to find new ways to connect with and continue to teach students in the midst of a pandemic. This year, UMC said thank you to the staff of Brown Elementary School on May 26th with a mask-uerade themed Teacher Appreciation Dinner.

Certified Medical Assistant Program at Frenship

UMCP has partnered with Frenship High School to offer a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) course for the upcoming school year, and we cannot be more excited!

UMC is so proud of our Food and Nutrition Department for achieving their 18th consecutive perfect city health department inspection!

2021 Nurse of the Year

Congratulations to Morgan Gamble, 2021 Nurse of the Year! Morgan works in the neuro intensive care unit and has shown exceptional growth– especially during the pandemic. She has strong leadership skills, superior teamwork, and exemplifies Service is Our Passion. Morgan is not just a shining example of UMC and its culture but is also a magnificent representative of the nursing profession in general.

Zero Heroes

As most of you know, UMC has a goal of being a High Reliability Organization (HRO). This means, although we operate in high-risk environments, we aim for ZERO preventable harm. We are so proud to have multiple units making huge strides in achieving HRO!

Reverified as the Region’s Burn Center

We are SO proud of the UMC Timothy J. Harnar Burn Center for being reverified by the American Burn Association as the regional burn center! This means UMC continues to be the regional burn center from Arizona to Dallas, and from Oklahoma to the Texas and Mexico border.

Neonatal Nurse Practitioners Spotlight

Our neonatal nurse practitioners serve as the primary caregiver to newborn infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). We want to thank our neonatal nurse practitioners for their hard work and passionate care for our smallest and most delicate patients.
