Cynthia (Cindy) Hill has been with UMC for 40 years, and we are so thankful for her service! Read below to learn why she loves UMC and why she continues to work here.
Why did you choose UMC 40 years ago?
I started working at UMC in 1978, before it was open to the public. I wanted to work in the NICU, and my brother in-law happened to be the Director of Public Relations, so I had connections at UMC.
In what capacities have you worked during your time here?
I have worked in NICU, Pediatric ICU, Surgical ICU, and in the Post–Anthesia Care Unit. Now, I am the Assistant Director in Surgical/Anthesia Services. I was a traveling nurse off and on for about two years and traveled to Nevada, Kentucky, Florida, and Hawaii. I would be gone anywhere from 12 weeks to 6 months, but it always felt great knowing I had UMC to come back to.
What do you love most about UMC?
I love the people! There are a lot of great people at UMC, and my coworkers are like my second family.
What is UMC’s best quality?
UMC has a very strong administration that exhibit and live out integrity and ethics on a daily basis, as well as embrace our community. I have seen a lot of changes at UMC, and we continue to get better. UMC has been so good to me throughout the years, and it has been an interesting adventure!
When you see Cindy in the halls, make sure you thank her for her 40 years of service!
